Our story

The story of Balzago Poggio is also the story of the people who live here.

The estate was originally built in 1908, a date still engraved at the stable’s entrance door. However, it became the heart of our story almost a century later. In 2008, Remo and Viviana began looking for a place that could combine a high quality of life with their love for nature, the land, and their desire for new experiences. That was when their journey truly began.

They knew one thing for sure: it had to be a mountain location. The Trebbia Valley was already close to their hearts—it is where they first met—and when they arrived in Bobbio, there was no doubt. They initially bought a house in the town, and twenty years later, an unexpected opportunity led them to Balzago Poggio.

Here, their new life experience took shape: a simple life, deeply connected to nature, where time is marked by the rhythm of the seasons. Renovation work began, and through hard work, dedication and passion, their home gradually came to life, followed by the barn and the stable. Many projects are still patiently waiting in a drawer: a vegetable garden, the restoration of the orchard and the transformation of three hectares into an olive grove.

Today, Balzago Poggio is a B&B with two rooms and a Home Restaurant service, but above all it is a peaceful retreat, a place of authenticity, silence, and natural beauty.
